Steubenville Big Red Keeps Rolling
It was hard to overlook what Coach Reno Saccoccia has done in his tenure as Head Football Coach at Steubenville High School. All he has done is win 3 State title, compiled a winning percentage in the mid 80% range, and has led his team to now 55 regular season wins in a row, and oh yeah, he has the field named after him.
Sure there are schools around the country that have had more wins and coaches that have had better success in terms of state titles but none have done it as quickly as what has been done at Big Red.
People often ask the question how do they keep winning? Some will argue it is their schedule, or the fact they play the majority of their games in the friendly confines of Harding Stadium.
To those people I say go to a game and you will find the answer, TRADITION. I have been to many high school games both in the valley and nationally and nowhere have I seen fans pour every ounce of energy into thier teams as they do in Steubenville on Friday nights in the fall. From the elderly gentleman that wore the uniform 60 years ago to the newborn baby sleeping in his mothers arms wearing the crimson and black of the Big Red is special.
Just remember tradition breeds traditon and that is what makes Friday nights in Harding Stadium so electric.
